If you come to my Pilates classes, you already know — I love my Casio.
Right now, my favourite is a pink sports one (yes, pink!). But my Casio story actually started years ago, back in my 20s, working in Greece as a windsurf Instructor. Every instructor on the beach had one. Not because it was trendy, but because it just worked.
They were waterproof, bombproof, and if one ever slipped into the sea, you didn’t have to forfeit your week’s wages to replace it. It was the kind of watch that took sun, salt, and spray and just kept going.
Fast forward a few years, and that love for Casio quietly followed me from the waves… into the Pilates studio.
Why It’s Perfect for Pilates Instructors
Pilates instructor's will know what a juggling act it is teaching across different studios. One class runs 55 minutes, the next is 50. Some start on the hour, others at 25 past. Add in your warm-up, main flow, and cool-down, and suddenly you’re doing mental maths mid-class trying to work out how much time you’ve got left.
That’s where my Casio comes in.
I just hit the stopwatch when class begins and I’m set. No clock-checking, no over-running, no need to sneak a look at my phone. It’s simple, it’s accurate, and it lets me focus completely on my teaching — not the time.
It’s Not Just About Timekeeping
It’s also a tiny little anchor in my day. There’s something grounding about glancing at your wrist instead of your phone. As an instructor, it’s good practice not to check your phone during class — and having a watch that isn't linked to your phone removes that temptation completely. No messages popping up from your best friend, your partner, or your kids right in the middle of a class — just pure focus on your teaching and your clients.
A simple watch keeps the moment professional, calm, and connected — the way Pilates should feel.
The Instructor Essential I’ll Always Recommend
Whether you’re teaching Pilates, leading fitness classes, or just trying to stay consistent with home workouts, this little classic does it all.
So yes — call it nostalgia or just plain practicality — but whether I’m chasing waves or leading a Pilates class, I can always rely on my Casio to keep me on track.
