If you’ve ever reached into your Pilates kit and pulled out a sticky, slightly tired-looking resistance band… you’re definitely not alone. Over time, rubber bands can lose their smooth feel, start clinging to themselves, and generally feel a bit past their best.

But don’t bin them just yet!!!! Try this simple at-home trick to bring them back to life!

Pilates Resistance Bands “Freshen-Up” Hack

Pop your resistance bands into a bag (a zip-lock, tote, or even a pillowcase will do).Add a sprinkle of talcum powder or flour if that’s what you have in the cupboard. Then give it a good shake.

The powder absorbs excess moisture and stops the rubber sticking to itself. Your bands instantly feel smoother, cleaner, and much closer to that “brand new” feel. (And if you use talc — bonus: they smell great!)

Why this works

Rubber naturally becomes tacky over time, especially with heat, oils, and studio use. A light coating of powder creates a barrier that restores glide and stops the band from bonding to itself.
